A permanent-feeling ramp without the permanent construction
The RampIt USA Independence is an all-aluminum modular wheelchair ramp built for home entrances. It stands on adjustable legs instead of concrete footings, so it installs without digging, pouring, or permanent changes to your house, and it can be expanded, reconfigured, or moved as your needs change.
Every Independence ramp is cut, welded, and assembled by RampIt USA in Coldwater, Michigan, where they have been building ramps since 1992. The aluminum components are backed by a lifetime manufacturer's warranty.

What makes the Independence different
Most ramps look alike in a photo. The difference is in the details you feel every day.
Slip-resistant tread that won't peel
The walking surface is solid extruded aluminum with molded ridges built right in. There's no grip tape or coating to wear off, so you get dependable traction in rain, snow, and everyday use.
Continuous handrails, top to bottom
Smooth-grip handrails run the full length on both sides with no gaps or breaks, giving steady support to wheelchair users, walker and cane users, and caregivers alike.
Adjustable legs and wide composite footpads
Each leg adjusts individually with a few turns of a wrench to level the ramp on uneven ground, slopes, and around landscaping. Wide 8" composite footpads spread the weight and help protect your driveway, deck, or lawn.
Self-adjusting transition
A self-adjusting beveled transition at the end of the ramp adapts to most surfaces for a smooth roll on and off, with no bump at the bottom.
Safer for the user. Easier for the caregiver.
- 2" wheel guards along both edges help keep wheels on the ramp
- High-strength aluminum is rust-free and non-corrosive, so there's no painting, sealing, or rotting boards
- Straight, turn, and turnback layouts fit almost any entrance
- Add ramp sections or platforms later, or take the whole ramp with you if you move

Find your ramp length in 3 easy steps
- Measure your rise. Measure from the ground straight up to the top of the door threshold or landing, in inches.
- Pick your length. For independent wheelchair users, plan on 1 foot of ramp for every inch of rise. A 6" rise means a 6' ramp.
- Check your space. Make sure there's level room at the bottom of the ramp to roll off and turn.
The smartest choice for most home entrances
See how a modular aluminum ramp compares with building one from wood or concrete.
| Modular aluminum | Wood ramp | Concrete ramp | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Install time | Usually 1 day, often DIY | Days, usually a contractor | Weeks, contractor |
| Concrete or digging | None, sits on adjustable legs | Footings often needed | Yes |
| Upkeep | Rinse it off now and then | Sealing, painting, board repair | Crack repair |
| Weather | Won't rot, aluminum resists rust | Rots and gets slick when wet | Can crack and ice over |
| If needs change | Add sections, reconfigure, or take it with you | Rebuild | Demolish |
| Changes your house | No, removes cleanly | Yes | Yes, permanent |
Install time depends on ramp length and layout. Check local requirements for permits.
