Which length do I need?

Find your ramp length in 3 easy steps

  1. Measure your rise. Measure from the ground straight up to the top of the door threshold or landing, in inches.
  2. Pick your length. For independent wheelchair users, plan on 1 foot of ramp for every inch of rise. A 6" rise means a 6' ramp.
  3. Check your space. Make sure there's level room at the bottom of the ramp to roll off and turn.

Modular ramp FAQ

How do I know what length I need?
Measure your total rise: from the ground straight up to the top of the threshold or landing. For independent wheelchair users, the ADA guideline is 1 foot of ramp for every 1 inch of rise, so a 6" rise needs a 6' ramp. Our Ramp Calculator does the math for you, or call us at 888-307-1839.
Do I need concrete or a foundation?
No. Modular ramps stand on adjustable legs, so there's no digging or pouring. Set them on firm, stable ground. If your ramp will sit on grass or soft soil, let us know and we'll recommend the right setup.
Do I need a permit?
It depends on where you live. Because modular ramps are freestanding and removable, many areas treat them differently than a permanent ramp, but rules vary by town and HOA. Check with your local building department before installing. We're happy to send a spec sheet if they ask for one.
Can I install it myself?
Yes. Modular ramps are designed to be installed by the homeowner, family, or a handyman with basic hand tools, and installation instructions are included. Longer ramps and platforms go faster with two people. Questions during install? Give us a call.
What if my rise is too tall for a straight ramp?
Taller entrances usually need a platform to rest or turn, like an L-shape or switchback. Send us photos and measurements through our free custom design form and we'll lay it out and price it for you.
Can I add on or change it later?
That's the big advantage of modular. You can add ramp sections or platforms, reconfigure the layout, or take the whole ramp with you if you move.
Will it work with a power wheelchair or scooter?
Check the weight capacity in the specifications above, and include the combined weight of the user, the device, and anyone assisting. If you're unsure, call us and we'll confirm the right ramp for your setup.
How does shipping work?
Every modular ramp ships free. Larger orders may ship by freight truck. If yours does, we'll contact you before delivery.
